Wanna Get Away?
Some of you may remember the Southwest Airlines ad campaign with this tag line. For those a little younger than myself, the typical scenario in the ad was: the main character finds themself in an embarrassing situation, wanting to crawl under a rock and disappear. Then a nice, comforting, hopeful disembodied voice would simply ask…"Wanna Get Away?"
The past four weeks have been a roller coaster! I have not had the embarrassing moments portrayed in the ads, thankfully. But there have been some major ups and downs on top of the normal busyness of work and family life and I’m pretty sure that same voice has asked me several times…“Wanna Get Away?”
Now, I can’t just hop on a plane and fly away, like the ads suggest. But when these moments hit, Holy Spirit quietly reminds me that I actually have a place of escape. It is my “cabin in the woods." Now this is not some uber spiritual exercise ... or an intense workout routine... or some binge worthy series ... or an extra sugary substance ... or anything like that.
There is a section of Scripture I go to when things get tough. It is a place where the Holy Spirit reminds me of God's Ramah word for me. It gives perspective. It shifts me away from my current situation and my self-focused feelings to seeing the bigger picture. It is where Jesus says to “abide in Me” and “I will give you rest." He will give me the strength to overcome because He has “overcome the world” and He provides a “peace that surpasses all understanding."
When life hits hard, do you hear that voice asking if you wanna get away? Where do you want to go? Do you have a “cabin in the woods?"
Choose to go to the only One who can fully heal and restore!
