A Word for Our Arbor Family

While meditating on the lives of Jesus’ disciples, it was almost impossible not to notice this character we have all heard about. Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve disciples whom Jesus called. And although he walked and lived alongside Jesus, and was also a witness to great miracles - perhaps even a participant in some of them - that was not enough for him to recognize Christ as his Lord. I do not intend to create any division in the divinity of Jesus Christ, but we can say that Judas Iscariot knew Jesus, but he did not know the Christ (Matthew 10:1–4).

This led me to consider that physical closeness is not a guarantee of true faith. Being close to spiritual activities - such as serving in the church, reading the Bible, or attending services every week - does not necessarily reveal a relationship with Christ. All of these things are good and valuable, but what is most important is that my heart longs to be transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Here comes the unavoidable question: Are you being transformed?

As we hold on to God’s love and mercy, I believe now is the time to make sure that Jesus lives in us and is growing in us. Do not assume that because you do things in the church or for the church, you are close to Jesus. It is necessary to seek Him and to allow Him to grow in you every day.

Seek Jesus. Period.
