A Word for Our Arbor Family
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Is it easier for you to thank God in good times or in difficult times? Most of us would answer that it's more natural to thank God when we are happy and comfortable. Through the years, I've learned to obediently give thanks for hard times.
Without exception, I have seen God's faithfulness and redeeming power in the very difficult seasons of my life. I've learned to trust Him as my Provider during financial trials. I only really know Him as 'Comforter' when I need comforting. I encounter the Prince of Peace during the most trying times; when I don't have the answer. I can be thankful in times of loss and grief because I know that He is with me and He loves me. I can pray with thanksgiving because He is so very good.
I stopped complaining because I found that my grateful heart sees things that my grumbling heart misses. God's command to be thankful in all circumstances opens our hearts to see how great He is. It also protects us from fear, doubt and unbelief. This is why He calls us to a life of continual thankfulness.
