A Word for Our Arbor Family
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
- John 14:6
Most of us are familiar with this verse. Many have even memorized it. Recently, I was challenged by something I was reading concerning this verse. Some thoughts spoke to my own heart so deeply that I want to share them with you today.
First, let’s look at Jesus being the way. Jesus is the way back to the Father. He is the way to become all that God originally created us to be. If Jesus is truly the way, then we can’t just adopt new morals, new belief systems or new principles in order to know the way. Following Christ is not a change in our life, but an exchange of our life for His. We have the opportunity to exchange the worthless life God never meant for us to have and to instead live a life following His voice. We need to humbly surrender our way and trust Him to lead us in the way - His way.
Next, Jesus is the truth. If we truly have exchanged our life for His life, then we won’t just know God’s truths, but we will intimately know Him who is the Truth. Out of this relationship, Jesus will speak His truths into our very being. By the power of the Holy Spirit, as we meditate on His Word, the words written in the Bible become written IN us.
Finally, Jesus is the life. Jesus laid down His own life to become the life in our very being. Christ cannot merely be just a part of our lives; He is longing to become our entire life. It says in 1 John 5:12 that the life can only be found in Him. ("Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life."
- 1 John 5:12)
Choose today to surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life.
Allow Jesus Christ to become The Way, The Truth and The Life.
