A Word for Our Arbor Family
Do you take guided tours when you go on vacation? You know, the ones where you and a group of random, uniquely-dressed strangers pile into a bus, a little too close to each other, and ride around town while the guide shares really cool facts?
My first impulse is always to do my own little self-guided tour. What freedom! I can go at my own pace and I don’t have to be near other people. I can choose what I want to see and when. The control is all mine.
But every time Pastor Adam and I choose to do the tour, I am amazed at the knowledge of the guide and realize just how lame our attempt to guide ourselves through a new place would have been.
This is true for us as Christians. We want a self-guided tour. “I want to do it my way, and I want to be in control.” But Christ told the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit. Before you guys run off all excited trying to start the Church on your own…WAIT. So they obeyed and waited. And man, did He ever come! Their tour guide came with Power and Wisdom and guided them through the difficult process of building the Church in the middle of great oppression.
We are no less in need of the guide today!
Get close to the other travelers on the bus and submit to God’s guidance. He’s already been where you are going. Trust Him.
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." John 14:26
Join us this Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost and what it means to us as Believers!!
